Man facing court on suspicion of assault

A MAN, 23, is in court for allegedly hitting another man’s head with a stone and causing a fractured skull.
John Hore, from Sepoe village, East Kerema in Gulf, was charged with one count of bodily grievous harm for allegedly causing severe injuries to Gregory Dino on Jan 29.
Committal Court Magistrate Paul Puri Nii read out the charge to Hore and adjourned the case to May 9 for mention.
Police prosecutor Sgt Peter Samghy told the court that investigations were still ongoing.
Police alleged that on Jan 29 at around 4pm at Ranuguri settlement, Konedobu in the National Capital District, Hore was drinking homebrew at Hadassah Yasaling’s resident.
After a while, he got into an argument Dino and challenged him to a fight.
Dino decided to walk away and Hore, upon noticing that Dino had no interest in fighting with him, grabbed a stone and threw it on Dino’s head, causing him to fall on the ground.
Dino sustained serious injury on his head.
He laid on the on the ground and bled for almost an hour before his mother noticed him and took him to the hospital for medical attention.
He was admitted at the Port Moresby General Hospital for two weeks.
Medical reports provided to police showed that Dino sustained a fractured skull. He was later released on medication from the hospital.
