THE National Court in Kokopo yesterday sentenced a man to 25 years in prison for murder.
Justice Salatiel Lenalia sentenced Samuel Kaka from Ulagunan, East New Britain, after finding him guilty of killing of Brian Lee between Dec 4 and 5, 2009, at the Ralum Country Club in Kokopo.
Lenalia said the evidence of the prosecution was credible and truthful regarding identification and recognition of the accused.
The court was told  that Kaka and eight other men assaulted Lee who suffered head injuries and heavy bleeding which caused his death.
It was proven by identification evidence that the accused, including the gang members, and the deceased had a confrontation during which they assaulted the victim.
Last week the court handed down the guilty verdict after accepting evidence by the prosecution.
The years that Kaka spent in custody will be deducted from his sentence.
