A FATHER of two, who bought a pack of marijuana for his boss, was jailed six months by the Lae District Court yesterday.
While admitting to the charge, Joe Mote, from Daulo in Eastern Highlands, told magistrate Tera Dawai that he was acting for his boss as he did not consume the drug.
Court information stated that Mote, on Saturday, at Top Town in Lae was sent by his boss to purchase a pack of marijuana for K1 when police caught him.
Dawai told Mote that whether the item belonged to him or others, it was in his possession so he was charged with possession of dangerous drug (marijuana).
In another drug case, Essy Paul, 25, from Sinasine in Chimbu, was charged with possession of marijuana.
Paul was arrested at 4-Mile outside Lae on Friday while trying to sell 19 packs of marijuana.
He admitted the charge after Dawai read out his police brief and told the court that he was sorry for doing what he had.
His case was adjourned to today.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man is on K300 bail after he admitted in court to having in his possession ammunition and was nabbed by police at 4-Mile outside Lae on Friday.
Buka Mathias, from Menyamya in Morobe, pleaded not guilty, saying the bag that contained the ammunition was not his.
Mathias said he was with his mother and there was a fight and someone just dropped the bag nearby.
“I picked up the bag but didn’t know the contents of it,” Mathias told Dawai.
Dawai adjourned the case to Sept 3.
