Man in possession of shotgun jailed

A MAN was jailed three-and-a-half years by the Lae District Court on Monday for being in possession of a shotgun and ammunitions.
Magistrate Tera Dawai found Rex Anis, 36, from Worsera in East Sepik and a resident of 9-Mile Bridge outside Lae, guilty.
The court heard that Anis had in his possession the ammunitions and a shotgun without a licence.
Magistrate Dawai said six months were for the ammunition and three years for the gun.
Police said that on Oct 31 at around 5.30am, Omili police and a Sector Response Unit raided Anis’ home and confiscated the firearm and the ammunition.
Anis was taken to Omili police station where he was charged.
He will serve his jail term at the Beon Prison in Madang.
