A 62-YEAR-old Australian who had his charge of breaching his visa conditions withdrawn when he last appeared in court a week ago was re-arrested and charged again. Arresting officer Chief Insp Leana Moere said Shaun Anthony Carden was re-arrested on the same charge, taken to Boroko Police Station for formalities and later released on a K500 police bail.
He will be arraigned again on the charge when the matter returns to court on June 15. Carden, from Wongaling Beach, Queensland, was alleged to have received salaries of more than K130,000 through false representation without a proper working visa for his purported employment with the International Education Agency. It was alleged that between Jan 2 and June 26, 2019, K134,261.17 was paid illegally to Carden by IEA as his fortnightly salaries when he was yet to start employment. Carden is also facing two counts of stealing and is out on a K1,000 extended bail. His total bail amount now is K1,500.
