A 40-YEAR-OLD man was committed to stand trial in the National Court for punching and causing a man to lose five teeth after a car accident in Port Moresby last year.
Magistrate Paul Puri Nii said even though Joel Ross had walked away to avoid confrontation, an upset Francis Kilikba followed him.
“Kilikba then released his frustrations by punching Ross,” he said.
“Kilikba said he did not punch Ross but only slapped him
“Kilikba also said he was upset when his car was bumped by Ross.
“Even though Ross was going towards the other side of the road to avoid confrontation, Kilikba followed.
“Given the circumstances, Kilikba was placed with and consistent with the witnesses’ statements, I do not think Ross was only slapped but was punched.”
On Aug 28 between 7pm and 8pm, Kilikba was travelling in his brother-in-law’s vehicle along Waigani Drive from Vision City towards North Waigani traffic lights.
Ross was also travelling in his vehicle towards the same direction as Kilikba when Ross bumped into the rear of Kilikba’s car.
Kilikba, from Maprik’s Bonguyora village, East Sepik, allegedly walked over to Ross and punched him, causing Ross to lose his five teeth.
