POLICE Comm David Manning on Tuesday directed the release of Laken Lepatu Agilo from police custody following a meeting with NCD/Central commander Asst Comm of Police (ACP) Anthony Wagambie Jr.
Aigilo, a lawyer, was allegedly arrested on Monday by a police unit and locked up in the Boroko police station.
Aigilo, in a post on social media, alleged that his arrest was politically motivated.
He also claimed to have been allegedly assaulted by policemen.
Comm Manning said: “There was no official complaint laid at any of the police stations against Aigilo.
“No arrest was done during the night when he was taken in and even up until today when he was brought to my office.
“I apologised to him and assured him that an investigation will be conducted into his arrest and assault.”
