MANUS is fortunate to have new ideas of fishing, says an official.
Deputy director for National Fisheries Authority (NFA), Noan Parkop said this when donating 15 boats on behalf of the NFA to communities in the province on Friday.
“Manus is a free trade zone so fishing should be effective in the area,” Parkop said.
He said the components of the boats such as eskies, solar and ice-making machines would be provided when the programme was rolled out.
Out of the 15 boats, eight were donated to co-operative societies, two were for seaweed farming projects.
Fisheries projects were given four and one was donated to the Lorengau United Church.
