OFFICIALS from the Manus provincial administration were impressed with the Speakers Investment Summit which they felt privileged to have attended.
Deputy administrator corporate social services Oka Nungu told The National that they were happy to have attended the summit.
Nungu who led a team of four officers said they had learnt a lot.
“We came because we were interested to find out what the summit was all about. Since our open member Job Pomat is the Speaker, we saw it as an opportunity to come and learn,” he said.
“The expo and displays were eye-opening for us and the presentations helped us to learn what others were doing. And going around the booths, we could get a lot of information because Manus is far away.
“If we need to do something that the politicians want us to do, we already have built contacts. The people here are really helpful.”
Pomat said he was happy to have the provincial representatives attending the summit.
“They are from the provincial administration, District Development Authority, commerce” Pomat said.
“They are the machinery to the government and they will be the most important people to learn as much as they can from this summit so they can implement back in the province.”
