Manus police rolling out safety, peace awareness

POLICE in Manus are carrying out proactive safer and peaceful community awareness in schools and selected locations throughout the province.
In the remote areas, Manus police commander Snr Insp Maureen Undaba said available radio stations were being utilised.
“Where there is no radio coverage, we are using our hardworking school inspectors to deliver our policing messages,” she said.
Regrettably, she said: “I have yet to see ward councillors, local level government presidents and village leaders reaching out to assist police on the awareness.”
Undaba said due to the slippery and deteriorating condition of the Manus Highway, it was hard to reach communities after Kawa and Buyang. Tingou was okay.
“The sea was rough and hindered some travel, but it is looking good now,” she said.
Meanwhile, Undaba also reported 80 arrests with investigations continuing and likely arrests in the next few days.
