MANUS police are trying to sort out a fight that broke out on Saturday involving three villages.
Provincial police commander David Yapu told The National that the fight started as a result of relatives not in approval of a boy and girl relationship.
“We are still trying to confirm the names of the three villages and where the boy and girl are from,” he said.
Yapu said a number of injuries sustained during the fight.
Police were yet to confirm how many as they were taken to hospital for treatment.
Villagers used bus knives, slingshots and stones to fight.
Yapu said the situation remained tense.
He said mobile police would be sent to the areas to attend to the situation and deal with those involved.
Yapu said the two involved in the relationship were Grade 8 students at the same primary school.
