Mapex receives K500,000 for scholarships

MAPEX Training Institute in Lae received more than K500,000 from the Morobe government under the Gerson Solulu scholarship scheme last Friday.
Scholarship executive manager Robert Ayang presented the cheque to the students during the institution’s 14th graduation ceremony.
According to Ayang, 435 students from the institution applied for the scholarship.
The provincial administration has allocated K2 million for the institution.
He said the more than K500, 000 presented to the institution as first payment and the provincial administration would pay the outstanding before the end of the year.
“There are about 5, 000 Morobe students attending 58 institutions across the country who have applied for the scholarship, who the provincial government and administration are still going to support,” he said.
“We’ve already visited some of the institutions and will continue to visit the others.
“We are committed to serving our young people because they are the future of Morobe.”
Ayang said on Friday that the scholarship covered the students’ fees in full.
Mapex principal Moscow Jacob thanked the provincial government and the administration for supporting the students.
The Morobe government had allocated K35 million for the scholarship programme of which K10 million had been paid to 58 higher education institutions recently.
