Marape asks Namah to provide alternatives to address lawlessness

PRIME Minister James Marape has asked Vanimo-Green MP Belden Namah to provide alternatives to address law and order issues in the country.
This is after Namah told Parliament on Friday that the Government had done nothing in the last 16 months since coming into power to address law and order issues.
“Law and order issue is a very serious issue and we want to talk about development in the country and we have to address law and order situations,” Namah said. He said the blame game between the former and current governments needed to stop.
He questioned the Government’s position in addressing the issues and said it should utilise what it had at its disposal.
In response, Marape said some government interventions to address law and order included:

  • INDEPENDENT Commission against Corruption;
  • WHISTLEblowers’ Act;
  • GIVING independence to the judiciary; and,
  • TRYING to restore discipline to the police force.

Marape said he was baffled that Namah, who walked to a court room was talking about the matter.

  • PM admitting he has no solution. He made the wrong decision to appoint Kraemer as Police Minister. Is the Police Commissioner competent?.
    Namah has the right to ask the question as he sees fit and the PM could just ignore him or spell out his plan.
    If unable to deal with the mess just step aside for Namah.

  • Is Mr Belden Nama a lawyer or chief justice? Did he just flew down from planter Pluto and so doesn’t know that law and order issues have been escalating since independence…or is he just trying to score political points.

  • As a transparent leader, he asked the ever-speaking out member to participate in addressing Law and Order.
    Since Hon.Namah has done his research on issues that needs addressing, he would also have some solutions in mind.
    It is not whom is competent or not. It is about standing together and fighting issues no matter which side of the Government you on.

  • Some Good Leaders a very good in taking rubbish from other Leaders eyes but do they check their own eyes before talking to others

  • They should all work together in this and Hon. Belden Norman Namah should list strategies or plans if he has some in mind and not just putting pressure on PMJM. Hon. Namah is doing an Excellent job as an Opposition Leader by pointing out issues that needs urgent attention.

  • Pay tithe to all main stream churches like nama do for his electorate and will achieve results.. Mr PM

  • I totally respect what PM JM said but the concern from the opposition leader is genuine. It’s not about contesting against each individual, it’s an issue that had to be resolved. Meaning that PM must be creative to use some other options to deal with the situation. He must always have plan B.
    Any issues or queries raised by any MPS all matters in a parliament meeting because that’s the reasons why meetings are held for. To raise concerns and talk about ways to fix it. It’s not about pointing fingers to one another.
    It will be best if PM JM put in strategies to solve the problem rather than complaining and blaming the Opposition Leader.
