Marape: No one will be forced

PRIME Minister James Marape says no Papua New Guinean will be forced to be vaccinated but the Health Department will be preparing to increase the number of the coronavirus (Covid-19) beds and mortuaries in anticipation of virus variants that can be three times deadlier.
“This is the middle ground we have found in responding to the huge public outcry against compulsory vaccination and a high hesitancy in public vaccination,” he added.
While speaking in a National Control Centre meeting on Thursday, Marape said vaccination would remain voluntary, but Papua New Guineans must seriously start understanding that they could die prematurely if they did not accept the vaccines.
He said the last 18 months living with Covid-19 had seen a total of 192 deaths to date, although it was not as bad as countries like India which has been devastated by the virus.
Marape attributed solely to “God’s grace and protection” but added that “we have been given enough time to get ourselves medically prepared to fight the pandemic”.
“It is really by God’s grace that our country has been spared. That I have to give to Him,” he said.
“But God has also given us enough time to respond to the virus ourselves, to stock up on vaccination or to build up our physical capacities on the ground.
“There will not be any forced vaccination on our people.
“We leave the vaccination for anyone who feels that they need to be vaccinated, including those of us in the front line. You cannot force people to get vaccinated.
“They choose not to be vaccinated, they face the consequences. Let us build more bed space, let us build more mortuaries.
“You do not want to be vaccinated, you run the risk of dying. God will protect you but God also gives us intelligence to make intelligent choices. I think God has saved us enough, we must help ourselves.”

  • Companies out their must know it is VOLUNTARY and must not stigmatize their employees. CEOs/MDs must not become dictatorial in their strategies on vaccine roll-out. Citizens have the DEMOCRATIC Rights to decide.

    • Agree with you Slave man, SSY. The PM and his cabinet ministers are also saying that covid19 vaccination is voluntary but some companies are starting to do the opposite thing by forcing people to be vacinnated or employees are being forced into termination where it is already happening in the case of Airways Hotel in Pom. What is the government really doing on those employees that are being terminated or put off on pay just because they refuse to get vacinnated?

To the PM’s statement that “It is really by God’s grace that our country has been spared” is indeed true. God has protected Papua New Guinea unlike no other country on the face of this planet earth during this deadly pandemic in the history of mankind. Papua New Guineans are believers and true worshipers of the Great Living God of Israel whom PNG had already proclaimed to be their one and only true GOD. Let the PM be reminded that this Great God whom PNG serves will always continue to protect PNG no matter what other naysayers say. May God bless and continue to protect PNG.

  • Thank you to PMJM for leaving vaccination optional. We believe in the power of God to deliver us, his people from the pandemic. Let the world know that there is a holy and powerful God in PNG who can save and preserve his people from dying from this satanic weapon. We renounce this sickness/pandemic in the name of our God and Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

  • Lets fear God than the virus, God is honoring this Nation, we have dedicated this nation to the living God, so we are saved, God is our refuge, in this time & season, ..if we have dedicated this Nation to God than lets live in Faith, forget about this Vaccination.. Blood of the Lamb is our Vaccination, otherwise Jesus death does not mean anything to us……..

  • What man can’t do, God can do. If people do not agree to some decisions, let it be as what the people of this nation have.

  • The Word of God in the Bible clearly states whom we MUST fear. Matthew 10:27 says; “And do NOT fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him (God) who is able to destroy both body and soul in hell.
These are the Words of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, who was God Himself in human form. These words of Christ should give us the strength and courage we all need.

I personally do NOT fear the Covid-19 virus nor the Vaccine because both of this cannot kill my soul and the Holy Spirit that God has placed inside me. In saying this, I will still take the vaccine when the need arises.

For all the anointed children of God out there, who live by faith (not by sight), this is the way to asses and see things. Go with your heart and not with the carnal mind (Romans 8:7). God is in the heart and your body is the temple of the Living God.

  • Joseph I support your comments.

We need God in this challenging times than the knowledge of men
    Psalm 91 always

  • Our people have lived and blended in with the country’s natural flora and fauna or environment for say 8-9 generations on record and have built up their immune systems to counter certain diseases. Covid-19 and its variants could be added to the list. We should be thankful to God the Creator for giving us such an environment to live in!

  • Thank you PMJM for the concerning leadership that you have taken for the sake of your people, the Papua New Guinean. Okay, as for us the people of Papua New Guinea, let’s thank our God for his constant Protection and Defence, the God who never change and the God who keeps his promise as shown himself to us the Mercy and the Love he as for us so thanks to our Lord God Almighty, your name be lifted high; Prasie, Worship and Honor be Yours forever…amen.

  • Thanks to PM JM for this article. No matter what may befall, our country is a Christian country. Every one and individuals know that, living GOD exist we all have faith and belief that GOD always will save png.

  • Most qualified vaccine manufacturers and medical professionals/scientists have spoken against this COVID-19 vaccines and have denounced the efficacy of AstraZeneca, Pfizer and others. They claimed that PCR tests are the least recommended techniques that is used to detect any flu related diseases but will not give an accurate feedback. Many have advised doctors and scientists of WHO to revoke WHO’s decisions of universal vaccinations given the deadliest effects currently claiming lives and the emergence of effects that will take away most lives who have already vaccinated in 3 to 5 years from now. Government can say this is from conspiracy theorists but it will happen! Marape maintain your call for voluntary vaccinations so that innocent lives of citizens are not compromised!

  • Thank you Philip Matt. Em tasol ya!

Whether we take the Vaccine or not, we all will die at a time set by our Creator. Nobody will force me to die before my time set by God.

In the end, May God’s Will Be Done.

  • I think this COvid thing is a great hoax here in PNG.
I mean if it really were, then most of our street dwellers and our settlement people would have been wiped out.
I mean read how deadly they say the virus is and how it spreads. If it really was here, it would have being another headline internationally in regards to our urban settings where such airbourne viruses would have cause a great deal.
Why cant the same reaction or approach be given to other diseases and viruses or pandemics that are already here where we can confirm in patients with gears and tools that we have here in our country.Unlike covid, its more like heresay stuff. How were patients confirmed to be covid positive.in the first place, it was shown that sample was collected from suspected people and sent overseas for testing and confirmation. However lately it seems to me that, that figures are aired and published without source of testing and confirmation on what sources were used to get info that a suspect is covid positive…..Faul olgeta
