Marape’s comment commended

Letters

THE statement made by incumbent Prime Minister James Marape after filling his nomination formalities in Tari was as unusual and interesting – drawing attention of many who read the daily paper the following day. Marape told his voters and the public that if Pangu Parti was unable to form the government after the General Election 2022, he would simply resign from the Tari-Pori seat.
If Marape really honours this promise it would be an honourable act – paving way for another new leader from his electorate who desires to become a politician can unleash his desire and interest.
Marape knows that he occupied the country’s highest political office as a last office and if unable to get the prime minister seat, he simply wants to quit.
This is a sensible act.
On behalf of the PNG people, I commend you for having said that.
This shows how unique your heart is – a very different person.
