Marape’s patience, respect pays off

Letters

PRIME Minister James Marape, the majority of Papua New Guineans have rallied behind you during the period of power struggle and hiccup you and your team have been facing.
You have stood the test of time with great patience and humbleness which got you through it all.
The patience and the heart you have to endure this trying period was outstanding.
That is true leadership potential that will help you to influence others to support your dreams in the years to come.
The nation stood in limbo this week hoping to see who our next prime minister would be as the position required a leader that was smart, strong and decisive.
Papua New Guinea has a robust democratic Westminster government system which has three major arms; the legislative, judiciary and executive.
Without inconveniencing these three arms of the government, you have waited patiently to have them function in their full capacities.
The three arms of the government have been functional and you did not even dictate the movement of MPs.
Your patience, composure and respect for the law has resulted in you maintaining your position as our prime minister.
Our Opposition has been vibrant and vocal, which is healthy for the Government.
They have kept the Government in check since entering parliament.
The Opposition has done a tremendous job, we appreciate you.
Having experienced and patriotic leaders on both sides of the House is vital in the sense that no tyranny or dictatorship would be entertained.
MPs should serve the interest of their people at all times, it is their job to do so.
As we are nearing the next general election, we have confidence that our prime minister will still maintain his leadership style with fairness to all members, whether in the Government or Opposition.
Keep on bringing in good and important reforms and bring positive changes for our country.
Marape, you have set the highest precedent in PNG politics and those who come after you may have a thing or two to learn from you.
