Marape’s plans for SME on right track

Letters

PRIME Minister James Marape, you are on the right track.
Some of us like your ideas and we urge all citizens to support them.
We have come up with this small to medium enterprises (SME) concept some years ago but lot of the SME areas where the nationals are supposed to take part in was not happening the way it was supposed to.
We should ask ourselves where we went wrong.
Our Government has mentioned it but our regulatory bodies should come up with better solutions to implement the ideas.
For example, in SME, this is the first step into taking back PNG.
SMEs are thinking big but starting small.
Business activities such as secondhand clothing, mini supermarkets, trade stores and restaurants should be operated by Papua New Guineans.
We can’t blame foreign business groups for taking over these opportunities because they were allowed into the country by our state authorities.
Our laws and regulations are probably not tough enough.
Can the Government look into this and clearly distinguish reserved business opportunities for our people?
