Marawaka mourns Sir Michael’s passing

Letters

I PASS my heartfelt condolence and sympathy to Lady Veronica and her children during this time of mourning for the late Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare – our founding father.
Thank you Almighty God for raising and using this great man until his death last Friday.
His legacy will never be forgotten.
His memory shall linger forever.
Papua New Guinea has to respect his valuable contributions and sacrifices.
His skills, knowledge and other qualities will continue to inspire us.
It is painful to say good bye to our founding father who is not going to be around to see his country progress.
I write this on behalf of the people of Marawaka in Obura-Wonenara, Eastern Highlands, to express our condolences to Sir Michael’s family.
Sir Michael’s life has taught me that my past is what I’ve been through but it’s not who I am.
My past doesn’t define me but it helps mould me.
May his soul rest in peace.
