AN argument between a man and his wife in Lae resulted in the death of another man last week, police say.
The husband and wife had been arguing behind 13A market, China Town, when the husband allegedly killed another man.
Lae Met Supt Chief Insp Chris Kunyanban said the man was from Wabag and his wife is from Morobe and the deceased was from Morobe.
Chief Insp Kunyanban did not give details on the reason for the killing but police are investigating.
He said 13A market was closed over the weekend while people from Wabag living there left the area for their safety.
He said the suspect, who has gone into hiding, was known to police and they expected to arrest him soon.
Chief Insp Kunyanban urged the suspect to turn himself in.
Meanwhile, Chief Insp Kunyanban, in giving Lae’s crime statistics from last week, said the city experienced two break-in and theft incidents at residential areas with arrests still to be made and the matter was still pending, six cases of assault, two traffic accidents, three cybercrime offences and two serious sexual assault cases reported.
While highlighting the cybercrime cases, he said they all involved suspects insulting, provoking others and making defamatory comments using social media.
He said people were becoming irresponsible and childish when expressing their grievances on such a public forum.
Chief Insp Kunyanban said he was concerned some were even using social media to report on police cases.
He said the Cybercrime Act could be used to arrest and charge those posting such information.
