INTERNATIONAL Trade and Investment Minister Richard Maru says the direct flights between Guangzhou (China) and Port Moresby are good for investment.
He was speaking during the partnership announcement yesterday between Radisson Blu and Paga Hill Development Company.
The inaugural direct flight between Guangzhou and Port Moresby lands at the Jackson International Airport today.
“We are targeting Chinese tourists so we need hotels such as this to cater for their tastes and we must have products and services such as casinos to attract them to PNG,” he said.
“Every year, more than 100 million tourists from China travel the world.
“Unfortunately, PNG has not been one of their destinations.
“With direct flights between Guangzhou and Port Moresby, we will start attracting tourists from China, but, without such world-class facilities as the Radisson Hotel, casinos and other tourism products, we cannot market PNG,” Maru added.
