MAYUR Resources Ltd says it will challenge the notice by the National Forest Board to cease all activities relating to three carbon permits the company was issued with for operation in Western.
The notice was issued by board chairperson Faith Barton who said permits were issued to the company on Jan 7 purposely for carbon credits.
Managing director Paul Mulder said: “Mayur Resources Ltd, via its Papua New Guinea subsidiary Mayur Renewables PNG Ltd (MR), received on July 20 notices from PNG Forest Authority of cancellation of forest carbon concessions which had been issued in January 2022.
“This relates to the area of approximately 800,000 hectares referred to in Mayur’s announcement of Jan 12.
“The notices do not make reference to the contractual arrangements that MR has in place with the PNGFA and relevant stakeholders.
“MR recently completed two extensive field trips to the concession areas and received landowner support.”
