JETSTAR Gold Coast Titans winger and Papua New Guinea Kumul David Mead was the club’s early front runner last December to represent the NRL All Stars in the third annual All Stars clash at Skilled Park on Saturday, Feb 4.
Mead is the highest rating Titans player ahead of the likes of William Zillman, Jordan Rankin and past NRL All Stars representatives Nate Myles and Luke Bailey“It’s a pretty good felling.
It wasn’t really expected but it would be nice to get a game,’’ Mead said.
“It’s a great spectacle. It raises a lot of awareness for the community and it would mean a lot to get someone from PNG to play in it.
“The fans back home (PNG) would love it too so hopefully they keep voting.’’
“If I get in I’ll be pretty happy but there’s obviously a few other guys from the club that can get picked as well,’’ the PNG-born star added.
Stage two voting has commenced and Online voting at www.nrl.com.au/allstars closes on Jan 16 with the public having to choose only one player from each club.
The public will select 16 players, which must include one player from each of the 16 NRL clubs, and coach Wayne Bennett will select the remaining two players to make up the 20-man squad.
