Mead ready to give back to PNG

Normal, Sports

FROM a young boy who started with a Coke bottle as a football, to now a Papua New Guinea hero and first class Kumul’s and Gold Coast Titans NRL player, David Mead is ready to give back to his country and show his appreciation for his people’s support.
Mead is a true inspiration for Papua New Guinea and, on Sunday, the PNG NRL Bid was pleased to announce him as their new Youth Ambassador.
In true Mead style, David is unleashing his energy to support the push for an NRL licence for PNG.
His journey to the big time of the NRL, began as a small boy growing up in the Tubusereia village, climbing coconut trees and playing in the fields.
Never did he imagine that one day he would become a first grade NRL player and represent his country.
However, his drive, perseverance and complete dedication to his sport was noted by John Cartwright, who today coaches the young Papua New Guinean at the Gold Coast Titans.
It is this tenacity and commitment, along with the way he conducts himself on and off the field that makes David the ideal person, to represent the PNG NRL Bid, particularly to the youth of Papua New Guinea.
