Medicines running out as supplies stuck without distributor

THE Government is yet to finalise the contracts of the companies to distribute medicine around the country, says Finance Secretary Dr Ken Ngangan. Ngangan told The National that State Solicitors were finalising the contracts which would soon be awarded to four companies.
Some rural health centres and aid posts around the country have reported running out of medicine supplies. The 100 per cent medical kit supplies which arrived from overseas early this month have not been distributed.
The Central Supply and Tenders Board is still waiting for the contracts to be vetted by the State Solicitor. Health and HIV/AIDS Minister Sir Puka Temu said last week that the contracts would be awarded to four contractors – one for each region.
