Mega Mall planning to be a ‘retailtainment’ destination

THE Vision City (VC) Mega Mall in Port Moresby wants to move from a typical brick and mortar shopping mall to a ‘retailtainment’ destination, general manager Anderson Ting says.
“In general, everyone is talking about sustainability and surviving the wrath of Coronavirus (Covid-19),” he said.
“With that looming above and surrounding us, I do not foresee the group will proceed with any extension until post Covid-19.
“The blueprint is there, but let’s see what the next general election brings to aid new investment policies.”
Ting said several renovations were happening within the mall from various tenants.
“Fone Haus is expected to be fully refurbished by January, and the new Game Zone will be reopened at the end of November, with new management offering an exciting arcade for all ages.
“Maku Gifts and Lava Girl, owned by local SME entrepreneur, joined us earlier this year, followed by the Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd with the opening of their service centre this month.
“This is an excellent and bold, unconventional move by MVIL in reaching out to their clients for greater service delivery.
“Post PNG will be introducing their new parcel box within a week or two from now, whilst Paradise Cinema will relaunch their mobile apps tentatively in the first quarter of 2022.
“RapidFone and a new network company will emerge as a new tenant next year and many more exciting changes.
“Our goal is to constantly evolve from a typical brick and mortar shopping mall to a retailtainment destination.”
He said Covid-19 had not affected the general mall operations as 230 of VC’s team members, and all its security contractors were fully vaccinated.
