A GROUP of men in Finschhafen, Morobe handed over to police their guns, homebrew-making equipment and marijuana plants, saying it was time to turn a new leaf.
The men from Mangec village had been urged by community leaders to give up their “life of crime” and do something worthwhile to benefit their village and district.
Group leader Luke Tengeng told The National that they wanted to stop criminal activities and start a new life.
They handed over six-homemade shotguns, six homemade small guns, a wire slingshot, homebrew-making equipment and marijuana plants.
The items were handed over to police officers, Correctional Service officers and soldiers in the district who welcomed the decision by the men.
