Menyamya marks reformation day

LUTHERANS in 13 parishes in Menyamya celebrated Reformation Day last Monday.
The day was celebrated to mark the 493rd anniversary of Dr Martin Luther’s nailing of 95 theses on the All Saints chapel of Wittenberg, Germany on Oct 31, 1517.
Lutherans in Menyamya’s sub-district of Wapi joined the Komes in a sea of red at St John’s Lutheran church carrying the national and provincial flags together with the church banner.
Since the arrival of the first Lutheran missionaries from Australia in Menyamya  in 1951, the church had not only evangelised to the people but also educated them.
They had also provided the most vital basic medical and health services to the remote areas there.
