MENYAMYA MP Solen Loifa has appealed to his people to stop unnecessary compensation claims.
He made this remarks in regards to the construction of road to Menyamya.
“This road will bring money and increase economic activities in the district,” Loifa said.
The road work from Menyamya Station to 40-Mile is progressing well and within schedule.
It is a new road that is set to connect at least three districts namely Menyamya, Bulolo and Huon Gulf.
Loifa said instead of travelling to Lae and taking the longer route through Bulolo, they would take the shorter route through 40-Mile to Aseki and Gulf.
“So you don’t put unnecessary compensation claims or try to stop contractor from progressing the work,” he told his people.
Loifa told them that in future, their sons and daughters would benefit from your sacrifice when they use the road to access basic services and venture into businesses.
Loifa said it is a 75km road and the contractor has so far covered 10km in three months.
He presented several machineries (four vehicles, an excavator, two dump trucks, a tractor, four sawmills and four chainsaws) to continue boosting the service mechanism in the district.
Of the four vehicles, two were presented to Menyamya police and the other two were given to service the health sector in the district – one to Aseki Health Centre and the other to Lutheran Health Services.
The excavator and the dump trucks are for the district works unit to attend to natural disaster and making maintenance, so the roads are sustained for people to use.
He said the tractor will be used to cut grass on the old airstrip and under the care of the district administration while the sawmills and chainsaws would be distributed to those affected people who had their trees being removed to pave way for the construction of new roads in the district.
Two vehicles were donated by the National Gaming Control Board, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited while rest of the vehicles and machines were funded through the district services improvement programme and Loifa’s discretionary funds.
