THE Menyamya nurses’ building is in such a poor state that it is prone to collapse and has been condemned by the district environmental health officer.
An inspection done by district environmental health officer Rei Tupo revealed significant structural defects that compromised the structure.
“The occupants risks living in the house and prone to accidents and diseases from pollutants and contaminants,” he said in his report.
“In addition, the occupants lack access to safe water supply and sanitation services.
“Therefore, this office has recommended that the building is condemned and proposed for demolishing as it is poses a risk to the officer and his family and also reflect an eye sore to the public.”
Tupo said he wrote a report after an entire building inspection conducted in response to numerous complaints lodged to his office regarding the district nursing officer’s deteriorated housing at the district health centre residence last June.
He said the building was an institutional house located at Menyamya station and was allocated to health services.
Tupo inspected the Menyamya police station, health centre and market and condemned buildings at all three areas.
