MENYAMYA are looking to re-group for the next Wawens Cup after recording just one win in Lae’s biggest offseason football tournament last week, according to player-coach Kamis John.
He said that when Menyamya beat Eriku Wawens Blue 1-0 in Pool D at Lae Football Association Park.
John said the team comprised of Menyamya Secondary School teachers and students, and youths who had never competed in the Wawens Cup.
“We don’t have representative players,” he said.
“It’s all about raw talents.
“Our view is that high-profile players competing in such tournament will not enable us to showcase our talents.
“Other than that, we are thrilled to come and learn a lot of things in management, refereeing, coaching and technical football.
“The majority of our players are Under-23s.
“We brought them here to showcase their skills.”
