‘Merger talks continues’

THE assessment of the merger between Telikom PNG Limited and PNG DataCo Limited will continue, according to the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission.
The ICCC was advised by Kumul Consolidated Holdings Limited (KCHL) to continue the assessment of the application for the authorisation of the proposed merger of Telikom and DataCo.
KCHL last year had asked ICCC to put on hold the assessment. But it now wants the process moving again.
ICCC chief executive Paulus Ain said: “We welcome the request by KCHL for ICCC to recommence the review of the pending authorisation application.”
Ain said ICCC would work with KCHL and other stakeholders to fast-track the assessment of the application and give a decision within the number of days required.
