MiBank appoints Aitsi, Vera as non-executive directors

PETER Aitsi and Arthur Vera have been appointed as non-executive independent directors of Nationwide Microbrank Ltd (MiBank), the bank says.
The appointments were effective as of Dec 6.
Aitsi is a well-known senior executive who recently led Credit Corporation Ltd as its group chief executive officer.
Prior to joining Credit Corp, he was the PNG country manager for Newcrest Mining.
Aitsi was also formerly the president of the Media Council of PNG, founding president of the Badili Club of PNG, and previously deputy chair of City Mission.
He has also had previous roles on boards with City Pharmacy Ltd, Coral Sea Hotels and Kumul Consolidated Holdings.
Aitsi is currently chairman of media company PNGFM Ltd.
MiBank chairman Allan Marlin said Aitsi’s experience in PNG business circles and service to community organisations would add value to MiBank’s strategic positioning in the market, as the leading micro bank in PNG committed to financial inclusion.
Vera is a seasoned technology and communications specialist having spent a period of 24 years with Datec across a number of Pacific island nations.
He was also involved with the establishment of bmobile in Solomon Islands, and more recently is associated with Asia Pacific Communications Specialists, providing internet and IT services for corporate clients.
Vera has served on various boards of corporate entities in his career.
Marlin said Vera’s extensive experience in information technology and communications would be invaluable as MiBank progressed its digital banking strategies.
