The Milne Bay assembly has endorsed the Esa’ala District Development Authority (DDA) proposal for the creation of new wards and two more local level governments (LLGs).
Esa’ala MP Davis Steven, pictured, said the establishment of South Normanby and Oya-Tabu LLGs was a major policy and planning milestone for the district.
Steven said the district development plan was launched on May 17, following the approval from Secretary for Planning Koney Samuel.
“The district plan was launched in Esa’ala Station and witnessed by leaders of the district and officers from Alotau and the Department of Implementation and Rural Development,” Steven said.
“We are now consulting with the three LLGs and stakeholders to do reviews and alignment of their plans.”
Steven said he also took the opportunity to explain why he had resigned from his post as Minister for Justice and Attorney-General.
