TWENTY-eight of the 36 Milne Bay students from Kokopo Business College are now safe in Alotau with their families, says Alotau MP Charles Abel.
“The remaining students will be flown to Alotau tomorrow (today),” he said.
He said the travel cost and arrangements were funded by the Alotau district and Milne Bay administration.
“A total of K54,640. 90 was spent on the tickets for all the 36 students,” he said.
Abel said the students travelled from Rabaul to Port Moresby on Sunday, then flew to Alotau yesterday while some would be travelling today.
Abel said he was thankful to Milne Bay communities in Rabaul and Port Moresby who had helped the students during their travel.
“Milne Bay lecturers with their families from Gaulim Teachers College, Kokopo town and all the families in Rabaul, thank you for the effort and support you have showed to our 36 students, they are now home safely,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Kokopo Business College had been closed indefinitely due to destruction of school properties and threats issued on students.
