Mining company achieves big despite numerous challenges

THE Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Ltd has made a breakthrough that has resulted in a record high quality production over the past two years despite facing numerous challenges, both internal and external, company president Gao Yongxue says.
Yongxue made the comments via video conferencing during the company’s annual work conference in Madang.
He said from Ramu NiCo’s head office in Beijing, China, that the company’s successful high quality production was due to historical technical breakthroughs which placed them as one of the top nickel laterite hydrometallurgy companies in the world.
The conference was attended by both staff and senior management from the Kurumbukari mine in Bundi, Basamuk in Rai Coast and the Madang base office.
“In 2019, we implemented arrangements of MCC group with firmness, overcame difficulties and hardships, facilitated production and operation in a concerted manner and embarked on comprehensive measures to survive the market downturn, mitigate risks, curtail inventory and improve profit,” he said.
“As a result, Ramu NiCo outperformed competitors worldwide in the nickel laterite hydrometallurgy industry, fulfilled annual budgets issued by MCC group achieving a 26.6 per cent year-on-year revenue for two consecutive years.
“Therefore, the company was awarded the MCC group’s progressive prize.
