STEVEN Matainaho is the secretary for the Department of Information and Communication Technology, according to Information and Communication Technology Minister Timothy Masiu.
The appointment is effective from Dec 7 for a term of four years.
Masiu said the appointment “stabilises the management of the department to focus on driving e-government and digital transformation agenda of the government”.
Matainaho had been acting since November last year.
“(He) has demonstrated exemplary leadership with clear foresight on the government digital transformation agenda by leading the Department of Information and Communication Technology to develop the Digital Transformation Policy 2020, secure approval for the restructure of the department and launched the department corporate plan 2020-2024.
“It was all within a space of 12 months, a testament of his prudent leadership and management,” he said.
He said Matainaho was not new to the ICT space as he had made a name for himself as one of the first freelance website developers and programmers. Matainaho holds a bachelor of science in physics and instrumentation from the PNG University of Technology and a masters in integrated marketing communications degree from the University of Wuhan in China.
