POLICE Minister Peter Tsiamalili Jr has continued his programme to strengthen the capacity of police operations at the district level during a visit to Wau-Waria in Morobe recently.
Tsiamalili delivered weapons, 10 police vehicles and opened new police housing and station upgrades.
In doing so, he highlighted the interconnection between new recruitment and increased resources, and the importance of maintaining new infrastructure.
“The way we will build our capacity in the police force is through more capable police who have the resources to do their jobs properly,” he told a gathering in Wau-Waria.
“As we increase the number of police personnel, to achieve our objectives police require the resources they need to do their jobs.
“The Government has allocated more funding for police support than any government that has come before.”
In handing over the new equipment and facilities to Wau-Waria, Tsiamalili said the items were not a free gift, but personnel taking on a commitment to maintain and service their infrastructure.
