THE Government will continue to encourage investment opportunities with other countries as a result of the economic boom in the country, Immigration and Foreign Affairs Minister Rimbink Pato says.
Pato was speaking at the commissioning of the new PNG consul in Turkey Dr Celal Metin.
Pato said the country was experiencing a huge economic boom with the PNG Liquefied Natural Gas project and other major projects in the pipeline.
“Our economy is one of the fastest growing in the world today and in terms of our foreign policy, we are looking at opportunities where we can position ourselves better and connect to the people as well as opening up new investment opportunities for PNG and other countries that we make business with,” he said.
“With the commissioning of Dr Celal Metin to the Republic of Turkey, we wish to pursue ongoing economic and diplomatic relations between the two countries.”
Pato said the appointment of Metin would present an opportunity to the people to open doors to international partners to invest in the economic development of the country.
Metin promised to serve the economic and political interests of PNG and Turkey.
“I will do my best for PNG and its lovely people,” Metin said.

“I am part of Papua New Guinea and I have seen with my own eyes the development needs that the country has.”
“I am ready to deliver to the country in its development needs.”
