PETROLEUM and Energy Minister Ben Micah, (pictured) plans to relocate his department and ministry, a spokesperson says.

In an email, the spokesperson said: “Yes, minister is looking at a suitable office for the department and ministry.

“We are looking at options.

“The minister wants to move the department out to a better location instead of hiding at Konedobu.”

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Rendle Rimua’s contract as Petroleum and Energy Secretary has ended and he has decided to retire.

Deputy Secretary David Manau is now acting in the position until a new appointment is made by the National Executive Council.

Micah was recently announced as Minister for Petroleum and Energy.

He takes over from now Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Nixion Duban.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill had said: Ben Micah brings a wealth of experience to the portfolio particularly considering the careful manner in which he delivered the restructure of Kumul Petroleum holdings.”
