STAKEHOLDERS in the country’s information and communications technology (ICT) sector were told to coordinate and consult with each other.
Information Communications Technology Minister Timothy Masiu said this would ensure an effective delivery of relevant services.
“Where circumstances require my intervention, please advise me accordingly and in a timely manner,” he said. “In that way, we will deliver goods and services to our people more effectively.
“That’s what communications is all about.
“Under my leadership, I want to emphasise that all businesses within this sector must follow the right process and not entertain any backdoor or under the table deals from anyone who has an interest in this sector.
“I would like to announce that all windows are closed and only the main door is left open so come through the main door and seek government business.
“I know this industry is lucrative and can bring millions of kina into the country.
“At this time, our country is going through a lot of financial burdens.
“I think it is the right way to go, therefore, we must stay focused and deliver in a transparent and accountable manner without much burden on our people.”
Meanwhile, Masiu added that ICT had also changed the way governments and businesses delivered goods and services in the world.
“I think Papua New Guinea is yet to reach that stage where our public service and the people can use ICT responsibly to enhance skills.”
