Minister welcomes landowner initiative

PETROLEUM and Energy Minister Nixon Duban has welcomed the initiative of the leaders of the wellhead clans in Angore (PDL 8), Hela to form a committee to address the concerns of the people.
The Angore wellhead leadership committee will take up these issues with the stakeholders of the PNG LNG project.
In a message to committee chairman Hari John Akipe, Duban congratulated the leaders of Angore.
Hela Governor Philip Undialu commended the initiative and urged everyone to work together to ensure the security of the LNG project.
The committee is made up of the four chairmen of the Halapura, Imika, Hurupali and Pereke clans.
They are the principals of the three well-pads at Angore – Wellpad A, Wellpad B and Wellpad 1A.
Akipe said the committee would set up a secretariat to “align our roles, functions and objectives to that of the Angore special purpose authority, Tari District Development Authority and Hela provincial government in respect of the plans on Angore LLG and wards area.
