BEING named in the centres again, PNG Hunters Willie Minoga, pictured, says he wants to settle into the position this year.
Scoring the try that sealed the club’s first win of their 2017 Q-Cup campaign against the CQ Capras last Saturday in Rockhampton, the Engan says  he was enjoying every minute in the backline.
“I was really happy to score that try last weekend and I’m happy that the coach has faith in me to play in the centres,” Minoga said.
“Playing in the centres is not new to me, when I was in the Digicel Cup I played there, but I’ve been in the forwards for the last couple of years with the Hunters and the Townsville Blackhawks so I had to adjust and so far, I’m enjoying it.”
Despite the enjoying his time in the backs again, Minoga, who has transitioned from being called the “freight train” by the Q-Cup commentators, admitted that he was not at his best last week especially on defence and working with the players on eaither side of him.
“I know my defence was not very solid but I have been working on that in training and I believe I can improve this Sunday when we play the Easts Tigers.
“Last week there was a break-down in communication between ourselves but Michael (Marum) picked it up and reminded us to step up in our first home game,” Minoga said.
The 100kg centre revealed his joy to be back with the Hunters and was aiming to put on a best show for the fans at the NFS.
“I am just really happy to play with the boys again, I feel more comfortable playing with the Hunters and hopefully I get the chance to score some tries, it would be a bonus for me,” he added.
Hunters vice-captain Wellington Albert spoke highly of Minoga as an impact player and was confident he would play a major role in their Round 2 match.
