Mioks keep unbeaten streak

THE Enga Mioks kept their unbeaten record intact despite being pushed by the Lae Tigers at Aipus Oval in Wabag yesterday.
The Mioks came back from trailing 10-8 at halftime and then to be 22-14 down with 15 minutes to go to eventually win their round 7 Digicel Cup fixture, 24-24.
It was a seventh straight win for the Enga Provincial Government-backed side. Mioks coach Timothy Lepa was satisfied with the win.
The Mioks with Rogers Laka at five-eighth and PNG Hunter Junior Bobby at the fullback managed to finish the stronger of the two sides to keep the streak going.
The Tigers were by no means out of place with their own Engans —Nicky Pilyo, Paul Kambi, Rex Yallon — driving the Lae side to be the better side for most of the contest.
Lepa said the Tigers had put his side under pressure but it was their attitude and discipline that allowed them to come out on top.
Lepa said Laka’s direction and control was the key to their win with Bobby a constant threat from the back.
