ENGA Mioks team manager Sam Koi has brushed aside any misconception of the Covid-19 vaccine as he volunteered to take the jab at Lae’s Angau Hospital on Friday.
He told The National that there had been lot of misconception on social media with different opinions, but there was little choice as vaccination was the only way forward because Covid-19 was real.
“We have to take measures especially people like us who deal with players, officials and every day,” Koi said.
“We have to be vaccinated just to put to bed the doubts of a lot of players and athletes.
“We have to stand up and be vaccinated because as far as the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) is concerned, everyone from our chief executive all the way to our chairman have to be vaccinated.
“It is not only for the good of us but it’s also good for people who we come into contact with.
“Taking the vaccine is not just about me and my immune system, but it’s about other people who are around me.”
Koi said from PNGRFL to the PNG National Rugby League Competition, it was on a voluntary basis for individuals but it would be mandatory for the Digicel Cup.
