THE Association of Local Churches (ALC) in East New Britain (ENB) has come together to commission one of their missionaries to serve outside the province.
Missionary Tonny Kaure, from Chilanga in the Nakanai area of West New Britain (WNB), who has served in ENB for some time, is set to take up his new posting in the Jimi valley of Jiwaka.
The commissioning was held at his ALC Kevera local church in Kerevat last Sunday.
The church, as a tradition, comes together on such occasions to officially dedicate the missionary to God and farewell him in worship and prayer committing him to his journey in the Lord’s name.
Pastor Alois Uriap said God heard the cries of the people of Jimi for someone to go there and share God’s word in the area.
“Therefore, we are here to confirm and witness this calling by sending one of our own to them as they also need our help in these times,” he said.
“Evangelism is important and churches need to work together to produce missionaries so that they help in preaching the word of God to the four corners of the Earth and this is what God wants. This reminds us to reflect on our past, the missionaries that brought the Good News and see if we have carried on what they have left us.”
