Mobile banking eases school fee payments

MANY parents have found making school fee payments using Bank South Pacific (BSP) mobile banking to be convenient, according to the bank.
Lynna Waho, a parent of a Jubilee Secondary School student, was able to pay for project fees instantly and seamlessly, from her phone last year.
Group general manager (retail) Paul Thornton said, 45 per cent of the total school fee payments made via BSP mobile banking (*131#) were to tertiary institutes, 43 per cent to secondary schools and 12 per cent to primary schools indicating positive adoption by parents across the country.
Of the 135 registered schools, Divine Word University, Lihir High School, Kokopo Business College, Markham Valley High School and Kokopo Primary School were leading the way with contactless school fee payments via BSP mobile banking.
Thornton said school fee payments were added to BSP mobile banking as a time-saving option for parents and ensuring ease of reconciliation for schools, through auto receipting and remittance advices.
“During these challenging times, we see more customers using our digital channels and services to practice safe contactless payments and daily banking,” Thornton said.
“As an enabler of digital payments in PNG and the Pacific, we understand the developing needs of our customers and clients and are committed to delivering innovative digital financial services that are fast, efficient and affordable.”
BSP mobile banking provides customers with a fast, easy and safe way to bank where and when they want at anytime.
The service is free to access via any mobile phone handset and is available to Digicel, bmobile and Telikom subscribers.
