MOMASE has sounded an early warning to other teams that they are no easy meat in the Super League competition as they outclassed the FC Port Moresby dominated team, Rapatona, 4-2 at the Bisini Soccer Oval last weekend.

Bouncing back from the opening 1-0 defeat to PS Roots in the opening round the previous weekend, the Rosen Matanga coached team proved too strong to comeback from trailing 2-1 to beat the Manusians 4-2 at full time.

The presence of FC Port Moresby top five players Felix Bondaluk, Michael Foster, Roniel Igens, Alwin Komolong and Kelly Jampu made no difference at all to the fired-up Momase boys. The Gerehu-based team dominated all facets of the game until the final whistle.

Bondaluk, who is a former Momase player, left for University until last season and switched to Rapatona this year for the Super League season.

Led by Eastern Star captain and fullback, Junior Sasu and Richard Mantanga, Momase were class all over the park to win the most important clash of the weekend on Saturday.

In the other match on Saturday, the Robert Sabadi coach Mungkas team drew with PS Roots 2-2.

On Sunday, Blue Kumuls came from 1-0 deficit to force a one-all draw against the high flying Defence team.

The star of Defence team, striker Pettyshen Elizah, scored a goal midway through the first half, however, the policemen replied through a header from captain Steven Kuaru after receiving a good cross from winger Elliot Topireta.

Australian Lachlan McGoxern, Eddie Lema, Archie Kweyaula and captain Todd Lipson stood out for the army side while Jeffrey Ruben, Ken Gule, Mack Raufun and Peter Hasu shone for Blue Kumuls.

In the main game, University certainly need to get its house in order after suffering the heaviest defeat 4-0 at the hands of Maclaren.

The Jackson Ngahan coached side, Uni Inter FC, will have to go back to drawing boards after losing all its senior representatives to other Super League teams.

However, the side led by Ludwig Sapa, Posangat Kanawi, Keith Jiram and Ambrose Demo are keeping the team together to keep University legacy on at Bisini soccer ground.
