MOMASE have snatched the number one spot on the PMSA Super League ladder after edging Maclaren 1-0 in at Bisini Soccer ground yesterday.

Substitutes Joshua Wesley and goal-scorer Mark Gobono produced a moment of brilliance to breach the Momase goal.

After a 0-0 first half, Momase started the second stanza strongly, midfielder Richard Matanga seemed to be everywhere for the Gerehu-based team.

Maclaren had several chances in both halves but failed to convert.

Striker Danny Barnabas is struggle for form while workaholic flanker Toru Simo seems to do too much when he is in possession of the ball.

On Ground 2, the star-studded University were made to struggle against Blue Kumuls for a goalless draw.

A flat University will find it hard to explain their performance against the lowly-rated Kumuls.

The Kumuls struggled in the opening half but came back strongly after fullback Tagaya Watson was pushed up into the midfield to take control of the game.

The gamble almost paid off but it was some desperate defence by University that denied them two possible goals.

In the early game, Rapatona captain Michael Foster unleashed his deadly left boot for the goal of the afternoon to help his team beat Cosmos 2-1.

Rapatona scored in the first half through a header from Alwin Komolong to lead 1-0 at half time.

Cosmos replied through Gari Moka’s header for an equaliser before Foster goaled.

On Saturday, PS Ruts drew 0-0 with Defence and Mungkas beat Hard Rock 1-0.

Standings: Momase 17, Rapatona 17, Maclaren 16, Yamaros 15, University 13, Cosmos 13, Defence 12, Blue Kumuls 8, Mungkas 7, PS Ruts 6 and Hard Rock 4
