Monitor conduct

Letters

WHERE do we begin to fight corrupt practises and doing the right things?
I always believe and maintain that fighting corruption should start from the top down and not vice versa.
Our Prime Minister James Marape as chief executive officer should monitor all state ministers’ conduct and clearly outline the roles and responsibilities of each ministers and departmental head.
For example registration of births, deaths and marriages are the responsibilities of the civil registry.
Reading from a media statement by National Planning and Monitoring Minister Sam Basil, the acting registrar general is Noel Mobiha.
There’s rumour along the Waigani corridors that the National Executive Council has appointed and gazetted a new registrar general, while Basil has appointed his own acting registrar general.
If this is true, can the prime minister step in and fix this mess or stop state Ministers from running around doing their own things outside of the country’s laws.
I would request the prime minister to put a stop to the National Identification Cards (NID) and divert all funds to the 2020 National Census.
The NID project is a waste of resources, time and money and will not work in PNG.
The NID registration will not stop me from moving in and out or even running for national, provincial and LLG election in PNG.
This is my country, I was born, live and will die and be buried here without the national identification card.

Gumasong Nakas,
