OUTGOING member for Moresby Northwest, Sir Mekere Morauta, is urging the incoming government to make annual budgetary allocations for the Cheshire DisAbility Services.
Sir Mekere said residents of the services at Hohola, Port Moresby, and those nation-wide had the same rights as able citizens.
“A person living with disability has equal rights to any other citizens and they must be given equal opportunities to benefit from government and public services,” he said.
Sir Mekere said on Monday while performing his last official duty as member for Moresby
Northwest when donating K10,000 to the centre.
He assured the staff and residents he would continue to help despite quitting politics.
“These are a special group of citizens and, as long as I’m in a position to assist, I will help,” Sir Mekere said.
